UNITED STATES SYMBOLS WEBQUEST

USA

Today we will go on a field trip to learn about all the symbols that are important to the United States of America. Make sure you are answering all of the questions on your paper at each stop. If you have a question or need help with any new words, just raise your hand!

Stop #1:

Our 1st stop is going to help us learn what a symbol is. It is important to know what a symbol is because there are many that represent the place we live. Annie and Moby are going to talk to us IN A VIDEO about what represents America.

Stop #2:

The next stop will be to read the words for the Pledge of Allegiance that we say to the flag in the classroom in the mornings. You can find the words right HERE!

When we stand up, put our right hand over our hearts and say the Pledge of Allegiance, we are saying that we respect and love the United States of America!

Stop #3:

Stop #3 is all of the American Flag! Like we learned at Stop #1, the flag is a symbol. It represents freedom when the United States first became a country. Take A LOOK at a picture of our flag. What do you see?

Stop #4:

Have you ever heard of the Statue of Liberty? I bet you have! It is a very famous statue in New York. New York is a state just like Ohio, where we live. States are like puzzle pieces that make up the United States of America!

We can see New York and the Statue of Liberty by using a map. We can see the STATUE UP CLOSE so it is like we are really there. Once you click the link, you can use the + and – buttons on the right side of the screen to zoom in more.

Stop #5:

Did you know that there is a song that everyone in the United States knows the words to? It is called The Star Spangled Banner and it is our National Anthem.

In this VIDEO, even kids like you are singing it! When everyone is finished, we will sing our National Anthem together as a class!
